Addressing Women’s Empowerment in Bihar

During his address, PM Modi criticized the previous Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) government, asserting that women in Bihar endured severe hardships under its rule. He stated, “Women of Bihar suffered a lot under the RJD rule. There were no roads, law and order was pathetic. Today, women feel safe and secure under the Nitish Kumar government as the rule of law prevails.”

The Prime Minister highlighted the progress under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and emphasized that women now benefit from safer and more supportive governance. He described the current administration as a “double-engine government” working relentlessly for the welfare of mothers, sisters, and daughters in Bihar.

Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana: Objectives and Benefits

The scheme, launched through video conferencing, provides ₹10,000 directly to women’s bank accounts, enabling them to pursue livelihood activities. PM Modi highlighted that the implementation of this program was made possible through the Jan-Dhan scheme, which ensures direct transfers to beneficiaries.

The government also announced that the 75 lakh women under this scheme would later receive an additional ₹2 lakh along with training to enhance entrepreneurial skills. The initiative is linked with the recently launched Jeevika Nidhi Sakh Sahakari Sangh, which offers community members access to funds at affordable interest rates, further strengthening women’s economic participation.

Broader Women-Centric Policies

PM Modi underscored the impact of central and state government policies that place women at the center of development. He cited programs like the Ujjwala Yojana, PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, PM houses under women’s names, Atmanirbhar Bharat health schemes, and Matri Vandana as examples of initiatives improving women’s lives.

He also reminded citizens of the reduced GST rates on essential items during the festive season, which provided relief to household budgets and further empowered women in managing family expenses.

The MGMM Outlook

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, a ₹10,000 empowerment scheme aimed at enhancing the livelihoods and financial independence of 75 lakh women in Bihar. Speaking virtually, PM Modi highlighted the stark contrast between the hardships women faced under the previous Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) government and the progress made under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership. Emphasizing safer communities, better governance, and improved law and order, he described the current administration as a “double-engine government” committed to the welfare of mothers, sisters, and daughters across the state.

The scheme provides direct financial assistance to women, enabling them to pursue income-generating activities, with plans for additional support, including ₹2 lakh and skill development training to encourage entrepreneurship. This initiative is closely linked with programs such as the Jeevika Nidhi Sakh Sahakari Sangh, offering affordable community-based credit, and complements other women-centric policies like the Ujjwala Yojana, PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, PM houses in women’s names, and Atmanirbhar Bharat health schemes. By integrating direct transfers, skill enhancement, and accessible funding, the government seeks to strengthen women’s economic participation and financial security across Bihar.
