Ram Temple Trust Appoints Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra as First CEO

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has appointed Air Marshal (Retd.) Jeetendra Mishra as the first full-time Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The decision marks a significant step in the evolution of the temple’s administrative framework as the Trust moves beyond the construction phase and focuses on long-term governance, pilgrim management, and institutional development. The appointment was announced during a key Trust meeting held in Ayodhya on 2 September 2026.

The creation of the CEO position reflects the growing scale and importance of the Ram Mandir project. Since the consecration of Ram Lalla in January 2024, Ayodhya has witnessed a massive increase in the number of devotees visiting the temple, making professional administration an increasingly important requirement.

A Distinguished Career in Service of the Nation

Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra brings with him nearly four decades of experience in the Indian Air Force. Commissioned as a fighter pilot in 1986, he served in several important operational and leadership roles during a distinguished military career. He is a highly respected officer who has commanded some of the Air Force’s most strategic formations and has accumulated more than 3,000 hours of flying experience.

Before his retirement, he served as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Air Command, one of the most critical operational commands of the Indian Air Force. His service record includes prestigious honours such as the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal, recognising his contribution to national security and military leadership.

Leadership During Operation Sindoor

Air Marshal Mishra gained national recognition for his role during Operation Sindoor, where he led the Western Air Command during a crucial period for India's defence preparedness. His experience in managing large-scale operations, coordinating complex systems, and ensuring operational efficiency is expected to prove valuable in his new role at the Ram Mandir Trust.

An Extensive Selection Process

The appointment followed a rigorous and highly competitive selection process. Reports indicate that more than 5,500 applications were received from retired bureaucrats, defence personnel, and senior administrators from across the country. The Trust reportedly used a combination of technological screening and manual evaluation before finalising Air Marshal Mishra for the position.

Responsibilities of the First CEO

As the first CEO of the Ram Mandir, Air Marshal Mishra will oversee the temple’s day-to-day administration, financial management, infrastructure development, security coordination, legal compliance, and pilgrim services. The appointment was part of a broader organisational restructuring within the Trust. During the same meeting, Govind Dev Giri was appointed as the new General Secretary, while industrialist Mahesh Bhagchandka assumed the role of Treasurer. The Trust also inducted three new trustees, including Dr. Nirmala Yadav, who became the first woman trustee in its history.

The new appointments bring together experience from fields such as public service, education, philanthropy, law, and administration, strengthening the institutional framework of the organisation.
