India Emerges as a Resilient and Trusted Global Leader Amid West Asia Challenges: PM Modi's Address at NXT Conclave

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted India's steadfast position as a well-recognized and trusted nation on the international stage, even as conflicts in West Asia continue to create disruptions in global supply chains and energy markets. Speaking at the NXT Conclave in New Delhi, the Prime Minister underlined the country's ability to navigate complex geopolitical situations while maintaining steady progress toward its developmental goals.

PM Modi emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the evolving situation in West Asia to minimize any adverse impact on the Indian economy, particularly in the areas of energy security and essential supplies. He assured that proactive measures are being taken to protect citizens, farmers, and industries from the ripple effects of these global challenges.

Strengthening Energy Security in Uncertain Times

In his address, the Prime Minister outlined significant advancements made in India's energy sector, which serve as a strong foundation for national resilience. The expansion of LPG infrastructure stands out as a major achievement, with active domestic connections rising from approximately 14 crore in 2014 to over 33 crore today. This growth has been supported by a doubling of bottling capacity and an increase in distribution centres from around 13,000 to 25,000 over the past decade.

The country has also expanded its LNG infrastructure, with the number of terminals doubling since 2014. Furthermore, Strategic Petroleum Reserves, which were nearly non-existent before 2014, now hold a capacity of 5.33 million metric tonnes, providing a vital buffer against supply shocks. These developments, combined with diversified import sources and growing renewable energy capacity, have helped India maintain stability in fuel supplies despite fluctuations in global oil prices triggered by the West Asia situation.

The government continues to focus on boosting domestic production, enhancing energy access, and promoting long-term self-reliance in the sector. Diplomatic engagements, including energy cooperation agreements with partners like the UAE, further strengthen these efforts.

Global Engagement and India's Rising Profile

PM Modi noted that despite multiple global crises, India is increasingly seen as a beacon of stability and opportunity. He referenced recent high-level visits by international leaders, including the President of Finland and the Prime Minister of Canada, which reflect growing interest in deepening partnerships with India.

"India is not just progressing — it is shaping the next stage of development and contributing actively to building a new international order," the Prime Minister remarked. He stressed that global leaders recognize India's strategic importance and rapid growth trajectory, making the country an attractive destination for collaboration.

Digital Innovation Driving Viksit Bharat

A key highlight of the address was India's leadership in digital payments. The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has transformed the financial landscape, emerging as the world's largest real-time payment system. In FY 2025-26, UPI processed over 24,162 crore transactions, marking a nearly 12,000-fold increase since its early years. This robust digital infrastructure supports financial inclusion across urban and rural areas and forms an essential pillar of the Viksit Bharat vision.

Next-generation reforms in governance, infrastructure, and technology are accelerating India's economic momentum, positioning the nation to play a more influential role in the global economy.

Addressing Geopolitical Challenges with Collective Resolve

The ongoing situation in West Asia has raised concerns regarding supply chain disruptions, particularly through critical routes like the Strait of Hormuz. India, which maintains strong trade and energy ties with the region, is responding through a coordinated approach involving continuous monitoring, diversification of resources, and diplomatic initiatives aimed at peace and de-escalation.

PM Modi called for a unified national effort, urging citizens to contribute through awareness and responsible consumption as the country works to safeguard its interests.

The MGMM Outlook

India’s response to the ongoing challenges in West Asia reflects its growing maturity as a global power that can balance external uncertainties with internal stability. The emphasis on energy security, strategic reserves, and diversified supply chains demonstrates a proactive governance model focused on protecting national interests while ensuring minimal disruption to citizens and industries. At a time when geopolitical tensions are unsettling global markets, India’s preparedness and policy-driven resilience reinforce its image as a dependable and trusted international partner.

At the same time, the country’s progress in digital transformation, infrastructure growth, and expanding global partnerships highlights a broader vision of long-term national development. India is no longer only responding to global developments—it is actively shaping them through innovation, diplomacy, and economic strength. This evolving role underscores the nation’s ambition to emerge as a leading force in the new global order, driven by confidence, self-reliance, and a commitment to inclusive growth.
