India Issues Stern Warning to Pakistan Over Ceasefire Violations Along LoC During Talks via Hotline

Pahalgam Terror Attack and Hotline Conversation

On April 29, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan engaged in a crucial hotline conversation in response to unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control (LoC). Defence sources indicated that during the exchange, India issued a stern warning to Pakistan, urging an immediate halt to such hostile actions.

This dialogue took place shortly before Pakistan’s Information Minister claimed that the country possessed "credible intelligence" suggesting India was planning a military strike within the next 24 to 36 hours.

Pakistan's Claims and Rising Tensions

Pakistan's Information Minister, Attaullah Tarar, asserted that Pakistan had received credible intelligence regarding India’s supposed intentions to launch military strikes within the mentioned timeframe. He warned that any such military actions would be met with a decisive response. These comments followed India’s accusations that Pakistan was supporting militants behind a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 civilians, mostly tourists. Pakistan, however, denied these allegations and claimed that India was using the attack as a pretext for military aggression. (From Mint)

Escalation of Ceasefire Violations

The ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified, with Pakistani forces engaging in unprovoked small-arms fire across multiple sectors, including Naushera, Sunderbani, Akhnoor, Baramulla, Kupwara, and Poonch. These violations have persisted for six consecutive nights, escalating tensions between the two nations following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam.

Notably, the Pakistani Army extended its firing beyond the LoC to the International Border in the Pargwal sector of Jammu, a traditionally peaceful area rarely subjected to such aggression. Indian forces have responded swiftly, ensuring that their retaliation remains measured while maintaining operational readiness. (From NDTV)

Conclusion

The ongoing escalation along the LoC and Pakistan’s claims of impending Indian military strikes have raised the stakes between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. While both sides continue to trade accusations, India’s stern warning signals its commitment to defending its sovereignty while calling for an end to the ongoing provocations. The situation remains volatile, and the international community is closely monitoring the developments.
