In a grand ceremony at the Veterinary College Field in Khanapara, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second successive term today. The BJP won 82 seats on its own, registering a notable increase from previous elections, while its allies — the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) — contributed 10 seats each. This victory has strengthened the foundation for continued governance focused on development and people-centric initiatives.

Dr. Sarma secured a convincing win from the Jalukbari constituency with a margin exceeding 89,000 votes. Alongside him, four ministers — Rameswar Teli and Ajanta Neog from the BJP, Atul Bora from the AGP, and Charan Boro from the BPF — took oath today. Senior BJP MLA Ranjit Das is set to assume the role of Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
