BJP’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan: Marking 25 Years of PM Modi’s Public Life Through Service and Outreach
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a month-long nationwide ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public office. The campaign will begin on September 17, his birthday, and continue until October 17, bringing together public-service activities, development-focused programmes, youth initiatives and grassroots outreach across the country.
The central milestone will come on October 7, 2026, when Modiji completes 25 years since he first took charge as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001. His journey subsequently took him to the national stage, where he became Prime Minister in 2014 and secured mandates for a second and third term.

A Month Dedicated to ‘Seva’
The campaign has been designed around the theme of seva, with the BJP planning activities intended to connect public service with community participation. The opening day, September 17, is expected to feature blood donation camps and other service initiatives across the country.
The programme will extend beyond political gatherings. Health camps, cleanliness drives, plantation activities, welfare outreach and awareness programmes are among the activities planned during the month. The emphasis is on encouraging participation at the grassroots while highlighting the broader idea of public service.
Showcasing India’s Development Journey
One of the key components will be the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’, under which around 50 locations identified by the BJP as examples of significant transformation are expected to be showcased. These include places such as GIFT City in Gujarat, Bastar and innovation centres such as iCreate.
Influencers, bloggers and digital content creators are expected to visit these locations and share their experiences online. The initiative is intended to bring development stories to a wider audience, particularly younger people who increasingly consume information through digital platforms.
The programme will also highlight infrastructure and development projects in Uttar Pradesh, including the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, airports, expressways and other projects being considered for inclusion in the outreach.
From Vadnagar to Varanasi
A particularly symbolic part of the campaign will connect Vadnagar in Gujarat, Modiji’s birthplace, with Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency he has represented since entering national politics.
The planned Jal, Jan aur Seva Sankalp Yatra will involve groups travelling between the two cities. Participants are expected to carry water from Gujarat to Varanasi for rituals at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and bring Ganga water back to Vadnagar. The initiative seeks to symbolically connect Modiji’s janmabhoomi with his karmabhoomi.
The journey will also provide an opportunity for interaction with people along the routes, with programmes planned at various stops to discuss development and government welfare initiatives.
Bringing Youth Into the Campaign
Young people and students are another major focus of the month-long programme. Drawing, debate and other competitions are planned in schools around the theme of Viksit Bharat 2047, encouraging students to think about India's development journey and future aspirations.
The campaign will also feature innovation-related initiatives and street plays under programmes such as ‘Namo Seva’, which will present stories connected with public service and development. Social media content, including short videos and reels, is expected to give these activities a wider digital reach.
Taking Welfare Outreach to the Grassroots
Another important element will be connecting people with government schemes. Under initiatives such as ‘Seva Setu Abhiyan’, camps are planned at the block and Assembly constituency levels to help people access information and assistance related to welfare programmes.
The campaign will also recognise Anganwadi workers and involve beneficiaries of welfare schemes. One proposed initiative will encourage people to share stories about changes in their lives associated with government programmes, creating a collection of grassroots experiences from across the country.
A Larger Vision of Viksit Bharat
The 25-year milestone is also being linked to the government's broader Viksit Bharat @2047 vision. Through the campaign, the BJP plans to connect Modiji's long public career with the larger objective of transforming India into a developed nation by the centenary of Independence.
The focus on infrastructure, innovation, welfare delivery, youth participation and community service reflects several themes that have featured prominently in the government's development narrative over the past decade. The campaign therefore provides an opportunity to look back at the journey since 2001 while also presenting a vision for the years ahead.
A National Celebration of Public Service
The campaign is expected to culminate on October 17 with a large-scale programme involving elected representatives from different levels of government. Reports indicate that a proposed ‘Jansevak Mahakumbh’ could bring together around 1.25 lakh public representatives, from panchayats to Parliament, for a concluding event.
This gives the month-long initiative a wider dimension. Rather than being limited to celebrations around the Prime Minister's birthday, the programme is being structured around public participation, service activities and an effort to highlight India's development journey.
The MGMM Outlook
The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan presents Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life through the idea of seva, linking his journey from Gujarat to the national stage with grassroots service, development and public participation. The month-long campaign, from September 17 to October 17, is designed to go beyond political celebrations by involving communities in health camps, cleanliness drives, plantation programmes, welfare outreach and youth activities. Initiatives connecting Vadnagar with Varanasi and showcasing development projects across India further seek to highlight the continuity between Modiji’s personal journey and the country’s development narrative.
The campaign also places strong emphasis on Viksit Bharat @2047, bringing together development, innovation, welfare delivery and youth participation as themes for India’s future. By taking government-scheme awareness and service activities to the grassroots and highlighting stories of beneficiaries and public representatives, the initiative seeks to turn the milestone into a broader celebration of public service. The 25-year journey is therefore being presented not simply as a political milestone, but as an opportunity to reflect on India’s transformation over the past decades and build greater public participation around the vision of a developed India by 2047.
