Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a firm condemnation of the recent drone and missile attacks on the United Arab Emirates that targeted the strategic Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone (FOIZ). The strikes injured three Indian nationals and triggered a significant fire at a key oil facility, raising fresh concerns over regional stability and global energy security.

The Incident in Fujairah

The attack occurred on May 4, 2026, when projectiles struck the Fujairah oil zone on the UAE’s eastern coast. According to UAE authorities, Iran launched a barrage including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. While air defence systems intercepted most of the threats over territorial waters, at least one drone strike caused a major fire at the FOIZ, a vital oil storage and export terminal.

Three Indian workers sustained moderate injuries in the incident and were promptly hospitalised. The Indian Embassy in the UAE confirmed that it is closely coordinating with local authorities to ensure the injured nationals receive the best possible medical care and support. Fujairah Civil Defence teams quickly responded to contain the blaze, and local officials urged residents to rely on verified information while avoiding the spread of rumours.
