PM Modi to Lay Foundation of India’s First PM MITRA Textile Park in Madhya Pradesh on His 75th Birthday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will mark his 75th birthday on September 17, 2025, by laying the foundation stone of India’s first PM MITRA (PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Park in Bhainsola village, Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh. This occasion is symbolic not only of the Prime Minister’s personal milestone but also of a historic leap for India’s textile sector, as the park will be the first among seven such hubs sanctioned across the country under the government’s ambitious scheme.

The event carries echoes of his earlier birthday in 2022, when Modiji released cheetahs in Kuno National Park as part of the wildlife conservation project. This year’s celebration shifts focus from ecology to industrial transformation, underlining the government’s broader vision of economic development.

Vision and Impact of the Dhar PM MITRA Park

The textile park in Dhar is expected to transform the Malwa region, a tribal-dominated area known for extensive cotton production across Dhar, Jhabua, Khargone, Barwani, and Ujjain. By establishing integrated infrastructure that connects spinning, weaving, dyeing, printing, and garmenting, the park will generate an estimated 100,000 direct jobs and more than 200,000 indirect employment opportunities.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has emphasized that this project will not only bring large-scale investments but also turn Madhya Pradesh into a hub of global textile production. Land acquisition of around 1,500–2,100 acres near Indore and Pithampur ensures connectivity to industrial clusters, highways, and the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, making the park strategically positioned for growth.

The PM MITRA Scheme: From Farm to Fashion to Foreign

The PM MITRA scheme embodies Modiji’s “5F Vision”—Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign. It aims to position India as a global textile powerhouse by creating world-class integrated textile parks with modern facilities, sustainable practices, and cutting-edge technology.

Nationwide, seven such parks are planned in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Together, they carry a total outlay of ₹4,445 crore until 2027–28 and are projected to attract investments worth ₹70,000 crore while creating around 20 lakh jobs. Each park will be developed as a complete ecosystem with logistics zones, residential colonies, skill development centers, green energy sources, and zero-liquid-discharge plants.

Additional Initiatives During the Visit

Alongside the foundation-laying ceremony, the Prime Minister will also launch multiple social and health initiatives. These include the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan, a campaign to enhance healthcare for women and children, and Seva Pakhwada, a fortnight-long nationwide service program coinciding with his birthday.

Other launches will include the Suman Sakhi chatbot, the Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam campaign under which women beneficiaries will receive saplings, the distribution of one crore sickle cell cards, and the start of Swadeshi Pakhwada to encourage indigenous goods. Health Minister J. P. Nadda has also announced that 75,000 health camps will be organized across the country as part of the women and child health campaign.

Global Significance and Future Prospects

The Dhar park is already attracting attention from domestic and international investors. Memorandums of understanding have been signed with leading global apparel companies, and investment commitments worth more than ₹16,000 crore have been recorded in Madhya Pradesh’s textile sector. The park alone is projected to draw investments of around ₹15,000 crore under the slogan “Made in MP, Wear Across the World.”

India has also extended invitations to Japanese firms to invest in the MITRA parks, leveraging trade agreements and production-linked incentives. This reflects the government’s ambition to make India a preferred global destination for textile manufacturing while promoting self-reliance under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.

The MGMM Outlook

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday will be marked by a historic development for India’s textile sector with the foundation stone laying of the country’s first PM MITRA Textile Park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. This project is more than a ceremonial milestone; it is a transformative step aimed at uplifting the Malwa region, which is rich in cotton cultivation but has long lacked integrated infrastructure. By establishing facilities that link the entire textile value chain—from spinning to garmenting—the park promises to generate massive employment opportunities while positioning Madhya Pradesh as a global hub for textile production. The initiative not only reflects the government’s commitment to economic growth but also stands as a continuation of Modiji’s vision of turning each birthday into a day of service and nation-building, as seen earlier with projects like the cheetah release in Kuno.

The Dhar textile park is part of the larger PM MITRA scheme rooted in Modiji’s “5F Vision—Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign.” With seven such parks planned across India, this initiative is expected to attract over ₹70,000 crore in investment and create nearly 20 lakh jobs nationwide. The foundation of the Dhar park, spread across 1,500–2,100 acres and strategically located near Indore and Pithampur, is already drawing international interest, with investment commitments worth thousands of crores. This move also coincides with broader social initiatives, including women and child health campaigns and programs to promote indigenous goods, highlighting how the government is blending industrial growth with inclusive development.
