India Urges Turkey to Press Pakistan to End Support for Cross-Border Terrorism

In a firm diplomatic statement, India has called upon Turkey to exert pressure on Pakistan to cease its support for cross-border terrorism and dismantle the associated terror infrastructure. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that bilateral relations should be grounded in mutual sensitivity to each other's core concerns.

"We expect Turkey to strongly urge Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism and take credible and verifiable actions against the terror ecosystem it has harboured for decades," Jaiswal stated during a press briefing. He further added, "Relations are built on the basis of sensitivities to each other's concerns."

The MEA's remarks come amid strained relations between India and Turkey, exacerbated by Turkey's condemnation of India's strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Additionally, Pakistan's deployment of Turkish drones during recent military conflicts has further complicated the diplomatic landscape.

Addressing questions about the revocation of security clearance for Turkish-founded Çelebi Aviation Pvt Ltd, which operates ground services at nine Indian airports, Jaiswal noted that the matter had been discussed with the Turkish Embassy. He clarified that the decision was made by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security based on specific inputs.

In a related development, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval communicated India's resolute stance against cross-border terrorism to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a call on May 10. Doval emphasized that mutual trust, respect, and sensitivity are fundamental to India-China relations.

India's diplomatic outreach underscores its commitment to combating terrorism and its expectation that international partners, including Turkey, acknowledge and address concerns related to cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan.
