A Landmark in Cultural Tourism

The Ramayana Wax Museum is strategically located on the Chaudah Kosi Parikrama route, opposite Kashiram Colony. Spanning an impressive 9,850 square feet, the museum has been constructed at a cost of ₹6 crore. Inspired by South Indian architectural styles, the two-story facility is designed to immerse visitors in the ancient epic of Ramayana.

The museum will feature 50 lifelike wax statues representing key figures and episodes from the Ramayana, including Lord Ram, Mata Sita, Lakshman, Hanuman, Ravana, and Vibhishan. Each statue has been painstakingly crafted with realistic attention to detail in attire, expressions, and posture. Dedicated lighting further enhances the visual experience, making the historical and mythological scenes come alive.

An Immersive Spiritual Experience

The museum promises more than visual marvels. Visitors will be enveloped in the ambiance of the Treta Yuga, accompanied by melodious chants of the Ram Tarak Mantra and devotional Ram bhajans. The ground floor traces Ram Lalla’s childhood and Sita’s swayamvar, while the first floor brings to life the exile, Lanka Dahan, and the climactic Ram-Ravana battle.

Innovative 3D lighting effects recreate vivid scenes such as the forests of exile, Sita’s abduction, and the burning of Lanka by Hanuman. These effects, combined with lifelike statues, provide a holistic and emotionally engaging experience for devotees and tourists alike.

Visitor Facilities and Amenities

The museum is fully air-conditioned, maintaining a comfortable 22°C, and is equipped with CCTV surveillance and round-the-clock security personnel. Entry will be regulated to 100 visitors at a time, ensuring an intimate and immersive experience. An entry fee of ₹100 has been set to maintain accessibility for devotees while sustaining operations.

To enhance the visitor experience, additional facilities including a studio coffee house, a snack zone, and dedicated parking are being developed. These amenities ensure that the museum is not only a spiritual and cultural destination but also a convenient and enjoyable venue for families and tourists.

Economic and Cultural Significance

The museum is expected to attract millions of devotees and tourists annually, significantly contributing to Ayodhya’s economy and tourism sector. Municipal Commissioner Jayendra Kumar stated that 12% of the museum’s revenue will directly support the Municipal Corporation, facilitating further development in the city. The project has been constructed by Sunil Wax Museum, a Kerala-based company renowned for its celebrity wax museums in Lonavala and Thiruvananthapuram, in collaboration with the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation.

This monumental project complements the Ram Temple and aligns with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of transforming Ayodhya into a world-class tourist destination. The Deepotsav 2025 celebration, illuminated with thousands of lamps, will now include this unique wax museum as a centerpiece of devotion and cultural pride.

The MGMM Outlook

Ayodhya, long revered as the birthplace of Lord Ram, is poised to set a global precedent with the inauguration of the world’s first Ramayana Wax Museum during Deepotsav 2025. This ambitious project, inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, reflects a harmonious blend of devotion, art, and heritage. Spanning nearly 10,000 square feet and featuring 50 lifelike wax statues of iconic figures such as Lord Ram, Mata Sita, Hanuman, and Ravana, the museum offers visitors an immersive journey through the epic of Ramayana. By combining South Indian architectural aesthetics with innovative 3D lighting and carefully curated devotional chants, the museum ensures a deeply spiritual and visually captivating experience that resonates with both devotees and cultural enthusiasts.

Beyond its spiritual significance, the museum serves as a transformative milestone for Ayodhya’s tourism and economic growth. Strategically positioned along the Chaudah Kosi Parikrama route, the project is expected to draw millions of visitors annually, with revenue directly benefiting city development. With amenities like air-conditioned interiors, security, cafes, and convenient parking, the museum establishes a model for blending heritage with modern accessibility. Shabariseva views this initiative as a testament to India’s commitment to preserving and celebrating its timeless mythology, reinforcing the nation’s cultural pride while fostering spiritual tourism.
